Tyrone Willingham era runs out of steam

 In a move clearly designed to kick Cougar fans while they're down, the Huskies announced this week that longtime loser Tyrone Willingham would not continue as the head coach after this season.  Willingham, who was one of UW's greatest coaches in their proud history of futility, has the team winless (still) this season and has strung together five consecutive losing seasons.  Since 2001, the Huskies are 33-58.   Truely a gloreous era of football at the Ewe.

And they thought it couldn't get any worse than Gilby

 


How could this happen?  

We here at HuskiesSuck.com can't imagine... as was written on this site when Willingham was hired:

"Willingham, known as a real loose cannon and prankster, brings with him a history of success worthy of a program as storied as Washington's, including such memorable seasons as Stanford's 5-6 1997 season, subsequent 3-8 1998 season, the memorable 5-6 2000 season, and the historic "Return to Glory" at Notre Dame, the 5-7 2003 season."

However, we may have been wrong on one point: 

"Willingham's career winning percentage is .560, which projects to a 6-5 team for the Fuskies, which unrealistic as it is, would constitute a monumental improvement over the 1-10 steaming mass of feces that was the 2004 campaign."

I have to think that 1-10 is looking pretty good to Husky fans right now... at least, much better than 0-12.
